Since launching in 2021, KT Health & Wellness has become the go-to health and wellness clinic in Menai. Founded by Luke and Melinda Madden, we created KT with a clear mission: to not only help our community overcome pain, injuries, and discomfort, but also to offer long-term, sustainable health solutions that add more energy, vitality, and years to your life.
Our holistic approach includes:
All of our Pilates classes are designed by our team of Osteopaths who bring extensive knowledge in movement, biomechanics, and injury prevention. Our newest offering, the Fall Prevention & Stability Pilates Program, has been carefully built with the ageing body in mind.
Imagine walking confidently up stairs without hesitation, feeling strong and steady with each step. Picture yourself moving with ease, unafraid of slipping or losing your balance. Our Fall Prevention and Stability Reformer Pilates program is designed specifically for those over 55, empowering you to regain control, boost your balance, and feel stronger than you have in years.
Falls are the leading cause of injury among older Australians, with one in three adults over 65 experiencing a fall each year. Shockingly, 95% of hip fractures are caused by falls, leading to significant health risks and loss of independence (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2022).
But it doesn’t have to be this way. With just a few sessions, you’ll feel the difference – stronger legs, better balance, and the confidence to move freely. Our expert-led Reformer Pilates program focuses on strengthening your core, improving joint stability, and enhancing overall coordination, giving you the power to tackle daily activities safely and confidently.
Don’t let fear keep you from living life fully. Join our program and discover that it’s not just about adding life to your years, it’s about adding years to your life. We created this program to offer a positive, supportive, and structured alternative.
The Fall Prevention & Stability Pilates Program is designed to:
All classes are run exclusively for stability & strength. This ensures program accuracy, comfort, and a focused pace to suit your environment. The sessions will be led by our highly trained instructors who understand the unique needs of ageing bodies, and how to push, challenge, and progress you safely.
Here’s how it works:
Because we keep our class sizes small to ensure quality attention and instruction, spaces are strictly limited to 10.
If you think this might be the right fit for you, or you wish to give reformer pilates a try but have been concerned about “keeping up with everyone else…” simply click below, register and one of our team will be in touch to discuss your goals, needs, and when to get started.
We can’t wait to welcome you to the KT community.
Many of our clients need Reformer Pilates. The origin of pilates was based upon dancers and athletes, and to be honest, many movements are not suited to the ageing body. So we have created safe and effective variations of the pilates moves that allow you to gain the benefits without compromising form or risking further pain and injuries. This class is at a slightly slower pace, with a few sneaky water breaks to make it effective, smooth and enjoyable for ageing bodies.
Our Fall Prevention Pilates Program is based upon 2 classes per week. Why 2? To be honest, 1 class a week is not going to provide enough benefit and more than 2 a week may not fit into your schedule. We constantly hear that you’re busier now than when you worked full time…
Our membership is priced at $48/week for the 2 classes. You can pause or cancel at any time, there is no minimum commitment, and we have capped the class size to 10 people only (as it allows us to completely focus on your form and your movement).
Our classes run for 50 minutes. This includes a 5-8 minute warmup, followed by a full body pilates workout (with focus on core and pelvic muscles) until the 45 minute mark. We then conclude each class with a guided stretch to have you leaving feeling fantastic. Plus… with Sonoma next door, you can then have a coffee with your training friends before enjoying the rest of your day.
Fitness is not an issue, This program is designed for beginners (regardless of your fitness level or previous training experience). Each class caters to you, with variations to make each exercise easier (if you find it too challenging) or harder (if you’re after a nice muscle burn). You will notice your strength and balance improve within 28 days of starting reformer pilates with us.
We have Clinical Reformers that sit approximately 35cm off the floor. This makes getting on and off and moving around the reformer easier and safer (plus it helps with less than perfect knees and hips). This also allows for any replaced hips and knees to work in a safe environment. If you have any other injuries, our instructor will always ask at the start of every class for you to notify them. They will then cater the moves to suit your body. And as everybody is different, you won’t feel left out.
In short, no. However, if you have any persistent ailments, have had a history of a chronic condition or are auto-immune compromised, it may be worthwhile having a quick chat with your GP. You can also speak with one of our team (we specialise in musculoskeletal health and have seen almost every condition enter our studio and train). We also know most doctors in the area and can speak with your GP also if needed.
KT is inspired by the Japanese term Kintsugi. Kintsugi is the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, highlighting the cracks rather than hiding them. It embraces flaws and imperfections as part of an object’s unique history, making it more beautiful and resilient because of what it’s been through.
At KT Health & Wellness, we’ve woven the philosophy of Kintsugi into our Reformer Pilates approach. We believe strength isn’t about perfection, it’s about rebuilding with care, confidence, and purpose. Whether you’re recovering from injury, rebuilding your body, or just beginning your journey, we help you move safely, celebrate your story, and become stronger through it.
Reformer Pilates Training at KT Health & Wellness provide:
There are many variations on how Pilates is taught and practiced. But the at foundation of all Pilates practice, there are a number of common components. Pilates focuses on the core stabilising muscles, spinal alignment, posture, and breathing. It uses exercises and stretches (with or without the use of equipment) to improve physical strength, flexibility, posture, and self-awareness. Drawing upon relevant clinical research, Reformer Pilates training provides an evidence-based approach to teaching Pilates in the clinical setting. Pilates involves learning a variety of movements addressing lumbopelvic stability, postural education, correct movement patterning, and body awareness.
Reformer Pilates is the closest form of Pilates that mimics what Joseph Pilates originally intended when he created the pilates training program. Back in the Second World War, Joseph would use old hospital bed springs and create resistance training movements for injured soldiers to increase their movement and overall health. Reformer pilates still use springs as both an Ode to Joseph and also they provide a dynamic resistance along the line of direction for the muscle and joint.
