What Is The Fall Prevention & Stability Pilates Program at KT?

Since launching in 2021, KT Health & Wellness has become the go-to health and wellness clinic in Menai. Founded by Luke and Melinda Madden, we created KT with a clear mission: to not only help our community overcome pain, injuries, and discomfort, but also to offer long-term, sustainable health solutions that add more energy, vitality, and years to your life.

Our holistic approach includes:

  • Osteopathy, Chiropractic, and Remedial Massage for spinal, joint, and soft tissue injury management,
  • Infrared Sauna for detoxification, energy restoration, and inflammation reduction
  • High-quality Reformer Pilates Studio we could build.

All of our Pilates classes are designed by our team of Osteopaths who bring extensive knowledge in movement, biomechanics, and injury prevention. Our newest offering, the Fall Prevention & Stability Pilates Program, has been carefully built with the ageing body in mind.

Imagine walking confidently up stairs without hesitation, feeling strong and steady with each step. Picture yourself moving with ease, unafraid of slipping or losing your balance. Our Fall Prevention and Stability Reformer Pilates program is designed specifically for those over 55, empowering you to regain control, boost your balance, and feel stronger than you have in years.

Falls are the leading cause of injury among older Australians, with one in three adults over 65 experiencing a fall each year. Shockingly, 95% of hip fractures are caused by falls, leading to significant health risks and loss of independence (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2022).

But it doesn’t have to be this way. With just a few sessions, you’ll feel the difference – stronger legs, better balance, and the confidence to move freely. Our expert-led Reformer Pilates program focuses on strengthening your core, improving joint stability, and enhancing overall coordination, giving you the power to tackle daily activities safely and confidently.

Don’t let fear keep you from living life fully. Join our program and discover that it’s not just about adding life to your years, it’s about adding years to your life. We created this program to offer a positive, supportive, and structured alternative.

The Fall Prevention & Stability Pilates Program is designed to:

  • Support healthy physical development
  • Improve posture and movement control
  • Build strength, flexibility, and coordination
  • Improve self esteem & body awareness
  • Build confidence while lengthening & toning your body
  • Offer a safe space, with a slower pace, to train and feel supported
  • Provide a fun and motivating fitness environment, no experience required

All classes are run exclusively for stability & strength. This ensures program accuracy, comfort, and a focused pace to suit your environment. The sessions will be led by our highly trained instructors who understand the unique needs of ageing bodies, and how to push, challenge, and progress you safely.

Here’s how it works:

  • Classes will run during the school term, Monday 11am, Wednesday 10am and Friday 12pm.
  • Every member will undergo an induction session to assess your movement, teach you how the Reformer works, educate you on why maintaining posture and technique matter & also how to get the most benefit from your Pilates training.
  • You will be a FREE pair of Pilates socks during your induction.

Because we keep our class sizes small to ensure quality attention and instruction, spaces are strictly limited to 10.

If you think this might be the right fit for you, or you wish to give reformer pilates a try but have been concerned about “keeping up with everyone else…” simply click below, register and one of our team will be in touch to discuss your goals, needs, and when to get started.

We can’t wait to welcome you to the KT community.

WHY KT & NOT ANY OTHER STUDIO?

Why Our Fall Prevention & Stability Reformer Pilates Program Just Makes Sense

  • Guided by Expert Instructors
Instead of guessing what to do or following random advice online, you’re coached by experts who understand the ageing body. We don’t just teach Pilates, we teach movement that supports healthy movement, reduces injury risk, and builds long-term strength – to save you from injuries & pain later in life.
  • Safe and Secure Training Environment
No need to worry about unsafe gym machines or unsupervised spaces. Our studio is a controlled, nurturing environment where safety comes first, especially for ageing bodies that need care, not chaos.
  • Privacy and No Super Fit People in Class
We get it, you don’t want to work out around the superfit and flexible, especially in vulnerable ageing stages. That’s why these classes are strictly for Strength & Stability. It’s your space to move, learn, and train without judgement, comparison or feeling like you’re holding everyone else up.
  • Program Designed By Health Professionals
While Pilates is an incredible method for building strength, improving posture, and enhancing mobility, the industry has seen a rise in instructors who complete only a weekend course before teaching, and in some cases, opening studios. This fast-tracked approach often lacks the depth, anatomical understanding, and safety knowledge required to support diverse client needs, especially in older adults or those with injuries. That’s why the KT program was created. Allied Health professionals designing safe and effective training.
  • Build Strength to Support Other Training
Whether it’s improving golf, becoming better at tennis or just having the confidence to train the way you want to, our program will not only make you stronger, but will enhance all of your other sporting commitments & hobbies. We help you build a stronger, more balanced body, so you return to sport faster, fitter, and more focused.
  • Sick of Pain, But Not Keen on the Gym?
Not everyone wants to continue with sport. But that doesn’t mean you want to give up on fitness. Our program is the perfect middle ground, structured, fun, low-pressure training without the intimidation of a gym environment.
  • Avoid Injury and Guesswork at the Gym
The gym can be overwhelming and risky if you don’t know what you’re doing. With us, there’s no guesswork, every session is guided, every movement is safe, and we’re always watching form and technique.
  • Body-Aware, Posture-Focused, and Strength-Building
As bodies change during ageing, it’s easy to feel weaker, disconnected or self-conscious. Pilates helps you reconnect with your body, stand taller, and move better, all while getting stronger and more toned.
  • No Judgement, No Comparison – Just Progress
Our studio is a space where you can focus on your own journey. No posing, no pressure. Just encouragement, good vibes, and the right kind of challenge.
  • Supportive for Return-to-Sport or Post-Sport Rehab
Coming back from an injury? Stopped sport and feel like you’ve lost strength or movement? Our program offers a smart, supportive way to rebuild safely and regain confidence.
  • Rain, Hail, or Shine – We Train
Forget washed-out training sessions or missed fitness goals due to bad weather. Our indoor studio means consistent, reliable sessions all year round.
  • Do You Even Need Pilates?
If you’ve noticed slight instability walking or looking for a handrail whenever you approach stairs, you’ll know straight away why strength and spinal posture are so vital for movement. The risk of falls is increasing. This causes significant strain on their muscular, joint and the spinal system. Pilates will teach you core exercises designed to build your spine and strength to ensure healthy & supportive ageing.

WHAT OUR MEMBERS ARE SAYING

Frequently asked questions

Why Have A Dedicated Seniors Program?

Many of our clients need Reformer Pilates. The origin of pilates was based upon dancers and athletes, and to be honest, many movements are not suited to the ageing body. So we have created safe and effective variations of the pilates moves that allow you to gain the benefits without compromising form or risking further pain and injuries. This class is at a slightly slower pace, with a few sneaky water breaks to make it effective, smooth and enjoyable for ageing bodies.

How Much Does This Program Cost?

Our Fall Prevention Pilates Program is based upon 2 classes per week. Why 2? To be honest, 1 class a week is not going to provide enough benefit and more than 2 a week may not fit into your schedule. We constantly hear that you’re busier now than when you worked full time…

Our membership is priced at $48/week for the 2 classes. You can pause or cancel at any time, there is no minimum commitment, and we have capped the class size to 10 people only (as it allows us to completely focus on your form and your movement).

How Long Are The Classes?

Our classes run for 50 minutes. This includes a 5-8 minute warmup, followed by a full body pilates workout (with focus on core and pelvic muscles) until the 45 minute mark. We then conclude each class with a guided stretch to have you leaving feeling fantastic. Plus… with Sonoma next door, you can then have a coffee with your training friends before enjoying the rest of your day.

What If I Am Not Fit Enough?

Fitness is not an issue, This program is designed for beginners (regardless of your fitness level or previous training experience). Each class caters to you, with variations to make each exercise easier (if you find it too challenging) or harder (if you’re after a nice muscle burn). You will notice your strength and balance improve within 28 days of starting reformer pilates with us.

What If I Have Injuries Or Have Had Surgery?

We have Clinical Reformers that sit approximately 35cm off the floor. This makes getting on and off and moving around the reformer easier and safer (plus it helps with less than perfect knees and hips). This also allows for any replaced hips and knees to work in a safe environment. If you have any other injuries, our instructor will always ask at the start of every class for you to notify them. They will then cater the moves to suit your body. And as everybody is different, you won’t feel left out.

Do I Need To Speak With My GP?

In short, no. However, if you have any persistent ailments, have had a history of a chronic condition or are auto-immune compromised, it may be worthwhile having a quick chat with your GP. You can also speak with one of our team (we specialise in musculoskeletal health and have seen almost every condition enter our studio and train). We also know most doctors in the area and can speak with your GP also if needed.

KT Inspiration

kintsugi - to mend what is broken with gold...

KT is inspired by the Japanese term Kintsugi. Kintsugi is the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, highlighting the cracks rather than hiding them. It embraces flaws and imperfections as part of an object’s unique history, making it more beautiful and resilient because of what it’s been through.

At KT Health & Wellness, we’ve woven the philosophy of Kintsugi into our Reformer Pilates approach. We believe strength isn’t about perfection, it’s about rebuilding with care, confidence, and purpose. Whether you’re recovering from injury, rebuilding your body, or just beginning your journey, we help you move safely, celebrate your story, and become stronger through it.

There are many variations on how Pilates is taught and practiced. But the at foundation of all Pilates practice, there are a number of common components. Pilates focuses on the core stabilising muscles, spinal alignment, posture, and breathing. It uses exercises and stretches (with or without the use of equipment) to improve physical strength, flexibility, posture, and self-awareness. Drawing upon relevant clinical research, Reformer Pilates training provides an evidence-based approach to teaching Pilates in the clinical setting. Pilates involves learning a variety of movements addressing lumbopelvic stability, postural education, correct movement patterning, and body awareness.

Reformer Pilates is the closest form of Pilates that mimics what Joseph Pilates originally intended when he created the pilates training program. Back in the Second World War, Joseph would use old hospital bed springs and create resistance training movements for injured soldiers to increase their movement and overall health. Reformer pilates still use springs as both an Ode to Joseph and also they provide a dynamic resistance along the line of direction for the muscle and joint.
