OSTEOPATHY IS A FORM OF MANUAL MEDICINE WHICH RECOGNISES THE IMPORTANT LINK BETWEEN THE STRUCTURE OF THE BODY AND THE WAY IT FUNCTIONS.

Osteopaths in Menai focus on how the skeleton, joints, muscles, nerves, circulation, connective tissue and internal organs function as a holistic unit. Using skilled evaluation, diagnosis and a wide range of hands-on techniques, Menai osteopaths can identify important types of dysfunction in your body. Menai Osteopathic treatment uses techniques such as stretching and massage for general treatment of the soft tissues (muscles, tendons and ligaments) along with mobilisation of specific joints and soft tissues to create movement. Other osteopathic techniques include visceral work, dry needling, cranial osteopathy and counter-strain designed to place a joint or muscle in a position of ease to minimise pain.

What to expect in your first Osteopathic session at KT Health & Wellness

On your first session, your Menai Osteopath will take your case history to establish when your pain first started, what your symptoms and concerns are and how they may have changed over time. They will also discuss the treatments (if any) you have received to date and the impact your pain may be having on your life. After learning and summarising the history of your pain, your practitioner will carry out a hands-on examination and assessment which comprises of various tests of the muscles, joints, spine and nervous system. After identifying the underlying cause/s (which may or may not require a referral for imaging), your practitioner will set some treatment goals, with the overarching goal being to restore maximal, pain free movement to your muscles and joints. Your Menai Osteopath will utilise an array of modalities to achieve the treatment goals set out. These include:
  • Spinal manipulation
  • Joint Mobilisation
  • Muscle energy technique (MET)
  • Soft tissue /massage
  • Counterstrain
  • Balanced ligamentous tension (BLT)
  • Myofacial release
  • Visceral manipulation
  • Rehabilitation and Movement
  • Programming

How KT Health & Wellness Is Different:

Unlike the conventional approach to medicine, which tends to emphasise the use of pharmaceuticals to mask symptoms, Menai osteopaths take the time required to establish a clear understanding of why your problem developed in the first place, and put into place a series of steps that will attempt to resolve the underlying problem.
